  • Rotoscope Studios - A Brief History - Timeline - Previous Projects

Prior to the inception of beta decay , game development has been an on-and-off hobby of mine. I’ve worked on countless small hobby projects over the years. None of them were crowdfunded or intended to be professional releases—they were side projects that helped me develop my creative skills throughout my schooling and early career. Because of that, there were little to no expectations attached to them. They came from a simple passion to create. A few of these projects progressed far enough that I took the opportunity to edit and produce trailers for them. Which has helped me gain a bit of experience in film production. I’ve intentionally kept these trailers on the beta decay channel as a personal reminder of some of the early beginnings. Provided below is a timeline reflecting the major development events of beta decay. An interactive version of the timeline can be found here where each event may be expanded including more detail. One day, I’d love to share pieces of my other projects—some of which you might find interesting—and walk through the art and development process behind them. It would be great to find the time to do that. Sif and the Labyrinth This was the first game I completed from start to finish! A simple top-down 2D game that featured some calm visual and audio aesthetics, contrasted by darker, more gruesome bloody dungeon battles. It was originally published on itch.io , but it is currently no longer available. A Steam release was planned but never published. However, I gained a lot of experience in preparing and uploading a build for Steam, which is a considerably more involved process than publishing to itch io. At some point the game will probably be uploaded to Itch io for free. WORK IN PROGRESS Below is a list of some early concept and relevant projects that you may find interesting. It would be nice to get some of these old builds back up and running, so I can record footage of some of each game’s systems. I'll keep trying to find some time to share and cover more of the previous projects here - This is all first draft stuff - I'd love to do this ! So stay tuned. Ostróda  (Small Hobby Project) Teaser Video A 2D side-scroller made on the Unity Engine where you move through a dark town while being chased by zombies. This concept was created in a weekend with the dark club music being my favourite part to create. Powerband Motocross  (Hobby Project) An open world motocross prototype made on the Unity Engine that featured some satisfying 'whip' physics - I hope some day I can come back to this build as it was fun to play. Messier 33 (Small Hobby Project) A 2D side-scroller set in space developed with the Unity Engine - The concept included starships made of modular structures that can be welded together. The player can fly their ship, walk inside its interior, place components, and construct new structures to expand the spacecraft. There was one major challenge, when the ship needed to turn around and fly in the opposite direction (from left to right). It became comically chaotic with all the objects/sub-components onboard. Proxyndic (Hobby Project) A 2D sci-fi, cyberpunk side-scroller developed with the Unity Engine. The prototype included melee and weapons combat, hiring a crew of syndicate agents, owning an apartment, changing outfits, cover systems, dialogue systems, alarm systems, drugs/boosters, and exosuits, hacking, card games and a few more features. Beta Decay: Centauri Hobby / beta decay Concept (2021) Created on the Unity Engine All legacy photos are still available for view on the beta decay Instagram . WORK IN PROGRESS

  • How Extensive is the Key Re-binding?

Within the Settings > Controls menu, every game Input function has the ability to be re-mapped to either a Keyboard, Mouse, or Gamepad button. There are also two additional settings regarding Look Sensitivity and Smoothing.

  • Does the game uses mandatory TAA/DLSS?

These graphical features are force-disabled by default, and there are no plans to make them optional. Many systems were designed with a pixelated visual style in mind, including font sizes, image scaling, and overall readability. For example, Terminal font sizes and display screens were carefully chosen based on what remains readable from specific in-game viewing distances.
